NGHOA is a leading Afghan led non-governmental organization registered with the Ministry of Economy Government of Afghanistan under license No. 5118, whose mission is “to advance the fundamental rights and freedoms of all people of Afghanistan, particularly those most vulnerable to human rights violations and are deprived of sustainable and equitable development.” NGHOA fulfills its mandate by assisting deprived communities with humanitarian aid, livelihood and rural recovery projects, conducting researches, baseline studies and need assessments to shed light over the obstacles that prevent communities and marginalized groups from advancing their rights. Based on its findings. NGHOA coordinates evidence-based advocacy actions to raise awareness, build capacity, and influence lawmakers, and policy making processes aiming at removing the barriers that prevent people’s advancement in society.

NGHOA has sound financial systems that ensure transparency, accountability, prudent use of resources and efficient financial processes. Financial processes follow a NGHOA Financial Manual, which is based on Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAPs). The Manual provides the guidelines on grants management and expenditure. To ensure financial information integrity, NGHOA utilizes QuickBooks to input, track and monitor all financial transactions and this system is able to accommodate different donor requirements in real time. NGHOA financial records are audited annually by a reputable audit company being recruited through a competitive process, as well as internally by a team of auditors of NGHOA and individual donors.
NGHOA procurement processes reflect international best practices such as transparent and competitive tendering and bidding, strategic sourcing, elaborate procurement planning and vendor database, stock management and inventory controls.
NGHOA’s blended and integrated programming ensures a holistic approach to meeting both humanitarian and development needs of target communities. NGHOA uses empowerment approaches that are participatory and community-based to enhance ownership of the projects.
